JELLY: Mat+Kat & Evanie Frausto
JELLY: Mat+Kat & Evanie Frausto
$20 Sold out

FE65: 52 page, 8.5x11", full color zine. Sticker censored cover. Edition of 150. Beautiful images by Mat+Kat, gorgeous hair by Evanie Frausto, wonderful text (here) by Georgia Moot:

Exploring the landscape of hair as a mode of individualism, Jelly harks back to the teenage years of restrictive existence where a late-night box dye session in the family bathroom is the only method of self-expression. Floating somewhere in the ether between childhood and adulthood, Jelly symbolises the playful nature of self-anointing characters, in an attempt to patch together the identity of the self.

Jelly immerses viewers into the melting pot of memories pulled from the trio’s brains—an eclectic and relatable archive of MySpace presence, boarding school culture and rave scenes. The punky rebellious spirit of younger years is brought together with the refinement of the photography duo’s palette and the craftsmanship of Evanies styling. The result? Youthful intimacy viewed through an adult lens.

Jack is one of my absolute favourite artists and one of my best friends and I am happy we could make this happen.

FE63: 32 page, (oversized) 12x16" unbound zine, printed on Fedrigoni Arena Rough. Packed with grey board for sturdiness. Edition of 200.

From Vivek: "I’m ever learning to become more connected with image making, using photography as an explorative tool to process my feelings and personal experiences. Last summer I had a scary incident in the sea, pulled out by rip tides. Trying to fight the force of the ocean, my body quickly became exhausted, I was scared and panicked. The waves kept coming larger and faster, and I couldn’t catch my breath or my racing thoughts. I thought I was staring directly at the end of my life."

A beautiful loose, bright object. The images are as captivating as is the story.

$14 Sold out

FE51: 52 page, A4 sized saddle stitched zine on glossy stock. Edition of 50. Huge 19"x27" glossy folded bedroom poster.

"Teen Love is about Anemoia – the nostalgia for something that never existed."

I have known SJ for as long as I can remember. We knew each other from the 2012 North of England art and design era. They were in Manchester and I was in Leeds (Leeds Leeds). I have always loved their work; graphic and artistic without being too graphic artist.

The "boy racer" subculture we were into as kids was all toxic masculinity. With 'teen love' SJ is trying to reclaim / recontextualise it through a queer lens. Google Max Power Magazine and you'll see.

Bird Show: Drew Escriva
$45 Sold out

FE17: 80 page, 8.5 x 11" hardcover book with Colorplan endpapers. First edition of 100. Released on the occasion of Drew Escriva's inaugural solo exhibition Bird Show at Umico Gallery, LA.

When Drew first came to me with the idea of a zine to accompany her beautiful work for Bird Show, I didn't know what the outcome would be, both in its content and physicality. It’s not really about birds, there are only a handful of birds in it. It also ended up being an proper book which (as a zine head) I was not expecting, but that’s ok. I am thrilled to share this representation of Drew's work and am excited to release the book.

“Bird Show is a culmination of imagery created over the past 6 years, inspired by a bird obsession and a desire to memorialize life’s seemingly mundane moments.”

Me and Sly are friends, although we've never met. I have been enamoured by her work as long as I have been publishing it. When I reached out to her about a new project she told me she'd been in Japan shooting and I knew whatever she sent would be exactly how I thought it would be; bright and energetic and tough. The perfect representation of Sly's work, in my opinion.

Realtree 6 panel hat.

The most classic realtree you could find. I found it and made some hats with it which I am stoked on. I kinda copied Waialae Sportswear because they gave me one and I liked it but we're friends and I gave them one so it's all good.

Milena and Phoenix once again taking the most beautiful pictures for me. It is tiring telling people I can't thank them enough but I can't thank them enough.

I have been a fan of Marks for a while and had been chatting to Noah about how we could do something together. I was lucky enough to facilitate the publishing of the book with Noah and showcase Marks beautiful images in a physical form. Thank you, Noah and Mark!

From NoahMark Custer is a 24-year-old photographer from Washington, D.C. and has been photographing for Noah since our inception. Many of the shoots were done autonomously with his vast network of friends and collaborators, which gives his work a candid, casual authenticity rooted in skateboarding, but clearly transcends beyond it. We have compiled a series of previously unseen photos into a small run of books by Friend Editions.

They flew from LA to NYC to have a party for the zine at Fanellis or somewhere else, EmRata will be there they tell me. Turns out the venue they landed on burned down so they had to do it next door. Enjoy it, there may or may not be another soon.

FE07, 8.5 X 11”, 96 pages, clothbound hardcover, tipped in image and foil stamp on cover, back cover and spine. Full color throughout. Edition of 700, co-published with the best commune press. A beautiful, elegant and (I dare-to-say) classy object.

Colin is a dear friend and talented artist, I made his first book with him. When my other dear friends commune (Tokyo) asked if i wanted to design and co-publish this book with them/for Colin I was over the moon.

“Shot between 2019–2021 this body of work takes the audience into another dimension. A space that is colorful and dramatic, beautiful and eerie, where bodies are celebrated and the subject can let go. The pressure of water, the lack of visibility, gravity, and breath, are the forces that create the calm and the tension, the grace and the struggle, the release and the resistance.”
